Great Expectations

So folks, next month (that soon!) I am heading into Africa, to Uganda to see the work of WaterAid. I have the honour of being the Mott MacDonald representative on a Supporters Tour, to see how WaterAid are working to implement their vision of ensuring clean water and somewhere safe to go to the toilet for everyone, everywhere by 2030. Big plans, but achievable with lots of help and hard work.

Team Uganda 2014
In preparation, last week we got to meet everyone going on the trip at the team briefing event in London. Most of them work for UK water companies and are all massive WaterAid Supporters. I was humbled by some of their fundraising activities, some of them over decades!

It was exciting to find out what we'll be up to, but there was also an increasing realisation of what a privilege I have to go on this trip. The responsibility of doing the right thing, for myself, for Mott MacDonald, for WaterAid and for Uganda is a little overwhelming right now. I hope I can live up all the expectations and turn this investment in me into something much greater for WaterAid, helping them to realise their aims of providing clean water and safe sanitation for everyone across the world by 2030. What a challenge! Bring it on!
